About me

Hi, I’m KeiShana,

I can’t wait to help you achieve a CALM + CONFIDENT birth journey!

About KeiShana

For more than two decades I’ve been devoted to understanding the powerful transition into birth, parenting, and personal transformation.

My journey into this work began long before I trained professionally. As a young woman navigating questions around body image, identity, and wellbeing, I found myself drawn to practices that helped people reconnect with their inner strength — yoga, meditation, personal development, and therapeutic work.

Years later, when I became pregnant while living in Australia, a box of books filled with positive birth stories arrived in the mail. Those stories ignited something in me that has never left.

I returned home to New Zealand to birth my two children and quickly became immersed in the world of birth advocacy and women’s health. Through volunteering, community work, and supporting friends and family in their birth experiences, I began to notice something striking: while some women approached birth with calm confidence, many carried deep fear and uncertainty.

That observation set me on a lifelong path of study and practice.

Over the years I trained in massage therapy, NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming), Humanistic Neuro-Linguistic Psychology, Hypnotherapy, Life Coaching, Adult Education, and later completed a Bachelor of Midwifery. Alongside this, I became a Certified Havening Techniques® Practitioner and a Yoga Teacher and Teacher Trainer, weaving together approaches from both Western therapeutic frameworks and Eastern contemplative traditions.

Throughout my midwifery and clinical work, one thing became very clear:

Education, mindset, and nervous system regulation profoundly change how people experience birth.

This insight became the foundation of Opti-mum Birth Skills, where I support women and couples to prepare for birth with confidence, clarity, and practical tools that work in the real world — whether birth unfolds exactly as imagined or takes an unexpected path.

Today my work spans birth education, pregnancy yoga, hypnotherapy practices, and trauma-informed coaching, supporting people through some of life’s most meaningful transitions.

I am deeply committed to helping people reconnect with their capacity for calm, resilience, and trust in their own inner resources.

Because birth is not simply a medical event.

It is a profound human experience — one that shapes families, communities, and generations to come.

It is an enormous privilege to walk alongside those who choose to do this work.

If you are preparing for birth, navigating a life transition, or simply seeking greater calm and clarity in your life, you are warmly welcome here.
